Overview
Uridine Monophosphate plays a key role in the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine and neuronal membranes, supporting synaptic formation and brain plasticity. It is often included in stacks aimed at long-term cognitive enhancement and neurodevelopmental support. Its effects are gradual and most effective when combined with choline and omega-3s.
The evidence
Uridine monophosphate is a building block for phospholipids and, with choline and DHA, for the synthesis of brain cell membranes — the basis for combining it with those nutrients. The encouraging memory and synapse findings are largely from animal studies; well-controlled trials of uridine for cognition in healthy humans are scarce, so its popularity outruns the direct human evidence.
How to dose it
Supplement studies and stacks commonly use around 150–500 mg/day, often alongside a choline source and DHA. Human dose-finding data are limited.

Chronic — any structural benefit would accrue over weeks.
Safety & side effects
Generally well tolerated in the available studies, though long-term human safety data are limited.
Who should avoid it
Little human safety data exists, so caution is sensible in pregnancy and alongside other medication — discuss with a clinician. The strongest evidence is preclinical; expectations should be modest.
